As Filipinos, it must be our story.” Dado Banatao was born the son of a farmer in the rural Philippines. He grew up in poverty, without shoes or access to electricity. In the 1980s, Dado's innovations helped usher in the era of the personal computer. He pioneered the PC chipset and graphics acceleration architecture that continue to be two of the foundation technologies in every PC today. Along the way, Dado founded three companies: S3, Chips & Technologies and Mostron. This is his story, filmed in March of this year on location in Cagayan, Cebu and Manila. Reply 1 Daryl Benavidez Daryl Benavidez9 months ago +JULITO ALIGAEN i agree yet, having high goals in life is not bad as long as you still remember where you came from. The video is not encouraging everyone to not be farmers or hate the life of a farmer but to encourage them to aim high and let not poverty stop you from achieving your dreams. I myself is a farmer's son and I am proud of that. thanks Read more Reply 4 Blueflame Blueflame4 weeks ago (edited) I agree too. But there is a better way of farming. Using technology to yield better things... Better productivity. Happier farmers. And that is why we need to learn. We need to step up. We need to be brave. We need to have a more futuristic perspective while being humble enough to see what is in our past and present. God willing, can happen :) Read more Reply Rushie Mae B Cedeño Rushie Mae B Cedeño1 year ago I am very inspired. I'm a chemist and currently pursuing masters under DOST scholarship in Mindanao. This video really woke me up to aspire more. Thank you for putting this vision in my heart, to make a difference in this country as a scientist. I almost cry watching this and other interviews of Sir Dado. I'm so happy to know about his life and that there is someone capable as him who still cares about the condition of our society. More powers to PhilDev. May the vision of Sir Dado be a reality for the years to come, as many young Filipinos like me are inspired and being taught on how to build a science and technology culture. There is hope and good future for the Philippines. :) IT'S TIME WE LEARN SUCCESS.
